Mandatory PPE Requirements for Saudi Mega Projects
Saudi Arabia is undergoing massive infrastructure transformations. With gigaprojects like NEOM, Qiddiya, Red Sea Global, and Diriyah, safety compliance standards have been raised to international benchmarks. B2B buyers and contractors must align their PPE procurements to these rigid standards.
1. Standard Site Entry Requirements
Before setting foot on any major development site, every worker must be equipped with the "Big 5" PPE items:
- Safety Helmet: Must include a 4-point chin strap (mandatory at NEOM and Aramco).
- High-Visibility Vest: Reflective strips must conform to EN ISO 20471 Class 2.
- Safety Shoes: Steel toe cap protection and puncture protection (S1P or S3 ratings).
- Eyewear: Polycarbonate safety goggles complying with EN 166.
- Safety Gloves: Suitable for task handling (complying with EN 388).
2. Client-Specific Audits
Saudi Aramco and SABIC enforce their own internal General Instruction (GI) safety regulations. All safety helmets, harnesses, and protective gear must be certified with formal validation paperwork submitted during mobilization audits.
